Something About That Name
Thursday, February 4, 2010 at 03:27PM “Jesus, Jesus, Jesus there’s just something about that Name.” Brit Hume is right; the two most explosive words in the English language are Jesus Christ. When we worship and call on the name of Jesus and reach out to others as He has clearly commanded us, we are inviting trouble into our lives. On Jan. 29 I spoke to a group of college students from Texas A&M at the Central Baptist Church. The next morning I went to the gym downstairs to get a workout in before my plane flew back to Fort Smith, AR. When I got to the gym the alarm was sounding, lights were flashing, and a taped message was warning everyone of a fire and telling us to evacuate. I went back upstairs to the front desk and heard one of the employees ask should we call 911 and the other lady said yes call 911. I asked if they would like for me to go back to the gym because there were people exercising with headphones on and watching TV. The lady asked me please go and tell them. When I told them what was happening this man and woman looked at me with great disgust; you could tell they were not happy that I interrupted them. They never said thank you to me; they just huffed and puffed and walked out the door. You know, that is exactly the way it is in some evangelistic encounters. We try to tell those in eternal imminent danger and they look at us with disgust in essence telling us to leave them alone.
I am grateful to God and for all His blessings in my life. His hand of favor is upon our church and we are experiencing some great days of ministry. God continues to open doors for me to preach with DFEA. On Feb. 1 I took two men in my discipleship group with me as I preached at FBC Hatfield AR, and we had a great time.
Ashley and the kids are doing great and I am so proud of them and their love for Christ and the stand they take for Him each day.
Blessed,
Danny
