Pressing Forward

I received a plaque and card from one of our Sunday school classes here at FBCL for pastor appreciation and it greatly blessed me.  It has a man running with these verses engraved on it, "Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus."  Paul is one of my heroes, and I too desire to press on and win the prize, not to give up, give in, or surrender any ground to the enemy of our souls.

As I get ready to preach tomorrow on Acts 20 I came across an interesting story about the Church at Brook Hills in Birmingham AL.  They have what they call Secret Church on select Friday nights. They had their most recent gathering on Nov. 6, 2009 and had 3,000 people in attendance and they were sold out!  Yes Friday night in AL where football is a religion to many.  They actually went till 12:45 a.m.  It reminded me of Paul and his preaching until midnight when poor Eutychus could not make it any longer and fell out the window to his death.  But God raised him from the dead--awesome story and excited about preaching the text tomorrow.

Thank you to so many who have prayed for Hannah during this tough time in her life.  She had to withdraw from Liberty University due to her car accident, but God has been so merciful to her and our family.  She has a job and is doiong well and plans to enroll at the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith in the fall.

Leighton and his tennis doubles partner won the 5A state championship!  They also competed the following week in the overalls in Little Rock, AR and won that tournament as well.  We are so proud of these guys. Coach Hamilton at GHS does a great job with the tennis team.

We have the One Year Devotionals available if you would like to purchase one of these.  They are $15.00 and DFEA has many that we are making available.  I was honored, really honored when Pastor Johnny Hunt asked me to write a chapter.  I wrote chapter or week 4 entitled, "The Word of God."

Pray for me as I, like Paul, seek to press on!

Great looking tennis players! I am blessed to be a part of their lives as a volunteer tennis coach @ Greenwood High School. The Forshee family and First Lavaca Family can be proud of these youngsters. Bryant won the "Heart of a Bulldog" award because of his tenacious, competetive efforts on the tennis court this season! He and Leighton keep getting better and better with practice, discipline, and the right kind of encouragement! Great season, guys. So proud of you.
