Hitting the Streets
On Sunday night we had a different worship service for evening church! We sang and prayed then went out and hit the streets telling people about Jesus and inviting them to FBC Lavaca, the Radiant Church. Some of our people stayed behind and went to the altar and prayed for us as we traveled to Ft. Smith. I sensed the Lord was pleased with us as we prepared to leave the sanctuary and go to where the people were. We gave away free bottled water and Steps to Peace with God Gospel tracts. I have heard some great reports as people were so excited as they went out and shared. I came across a group of teens from our church and they were pumped and wanted more homes to visit! Ashley and I met a man named Freddie, a Vietnam Veteran, and we were so blessed to visit with him. He shared his testimony with us and let us pray for him. He experienced some very difficult times during the war.
God continues to bless our church and I am so grateful. We had a young lady come forward Sunday morning and committed her life to Christ. Her husband is serving in the military overseas in Afghanistan. After she got saved she said I am ready to get baptized! I baptized her Sunday night at the beginning of the service (the Lord also allowed us to baptize 3 other people Sunday!)
Also last weekend both Bryant and Leighton won the tennis tournaments they entered in Ft. Smith. Ashley and I are very proud of them. Also, the boys are playing the part of Aladdin in the Disney play for the Wells Junior High School this week and weekend. They have worked so hard and a good number of folks from the church are going to watch them and support them and we thank you guys!
Ok the photo is me with an eye patch on my right eye. I had a pterrigium removed and glad that is over with! Dr. Chris Greer did a great job and now the healing part begins. This little growth on my eye had been bothering me over the last few weeks and months so I decided to get it removed. I appreciate Bro Tony coming up to the hospital and praying with me and sitting with Ashley.
We continue to receive encouraging words from people who watch our TV broadcasts and Internet pod casts. I heard this week of a couple in their 90's yes their 90's who are unable to attend church so they watch us on TV!
Take care and please keep us in your prayers. God is moving and what a joy and privilege to preach His Word in these troublesome days.
Study in Acts
I am so enjoying studying the Book of Acts here at FBC Lavaca, the Radiant Church. God continues to reveal so much to me as I study His awesome Word and the early church. These are busy but fulfilling days for my family and me. God is allowing us to touch many people primarily through the TV and the pod casts on he Internet. Everywhere I go, and I do mean nearly everywhere here in the River Valley, someone tells me that they watch us on TV, and what a joy it is to reach so many people with the Gospel! God continues to bless DFEA and we are grateful for the continued opportunities to reach people through this ministry. I have a couple of dates coming up this summer in VA, NC, AL and will be posting these on my dfea web site soon. I am so excited about going to Belarus with 10 folks from FBC Lavaca. Please pray for us as we go May 29-June 6. And I am excited about the team going to El Salvador in August. DFEA is honored to scholarship a local pastor to go with our team from Lavaca. Thanks DFEA supporters for all your help as God continues to open doors for us to bless others.
I have a couple of photos to post. The first is from the Barling, AR retirement center as I went there last week to preach to the residents. It reminded me when I was a teenager and would go and preach at a place called the Home of Grace, a home for abused women. I was only about 18 and now I am 43 and still preaching the Gospel; thank You Jesus! And the next picture is Ken Hamilton and me at the FCA office in Ft. Smith, AR. Ken is a wonderful Christian man, a retired dentist in the River Valley who has a passion for life and for reaching people with the Gospel. Ken is also the head tennis coach at Greenwood High School here in AR where my kids play. I was able to speak to a group of coaches and one athletic director on Thursday of this week at ole dark thirty I mean 6:30 am! God blessed and I was honored to meet these men and share a word with them.
My family is doing great. Ashley and Hannah with Edie and Kristen Buchanan are going to Dallas to just hang out and shop. That means I have the boys and Bryant and Leighton I will try not to cook anymore cornbread!!! Ask B and L about bubbling hot cornbread that tasted pretty bad!
Bryant and Leighton are doing so well with their tennis; we have a tournament this weekend in Ft. Smith. Well better go. If you are reading this from FBC Lavaca or DFEA or somewhere else know that I love you and let me know if I can pray for you about anything.
Jesus is still changing lives, and He is still changing me. I love HIm so.
