Super Senior Saints

Recently I have had the opportunity to visit with some wonderful senior adults in our church and area. I went to get my haircut today and a lady named Shelly Schrober said hello Brother Danny I need to speak with you. I said yes mam, how can I help you. She told me she lives at the Barling Retirement Center and she and others watch me on TV every Sunday. We had a good time of fellowship then she blessed me and said, "You have no idea how many people you minister to each Sunday." Her comment reminded me of how God continues to bless our TV ministry and we are so blessed to have the guys we have on staff who do an excellent job with the production of our weekly broadcast. Thanks Josh, Travis, and guys. You are great.

On Wednesday evenings Ashley and I go and visit prospects who visit our church. Last week we had the high privilege of leading Stephanie to Christ. After she accepted the Lord she said, "You know I have this tingling feeling all over me." She had just gotten saved and we were able to rejoice with her and her parents. Stephanie came forward on Profession of Faith Sunday morning during our 8:30 am service and she is getting baptized next Sunday. Her parents also came forward and joined our church.

Tonight I went out and visited in the home of one of our long time faithful members, Brother Paul Taylor. What a blessing it was to get to know him. He was married to his wife for over 60 years. He served in the Pacific during WWII and was only married 6 months when he left to go serve. His wife Margaret was pregnant and he did not see Robert, his firstborn son, until he was 3 years old. He showed me a picture he is so proud of. It is a picture of him and Pastor Grant as the church acknowledged his service of 60 years as a deacon here at FB Lavaca. Amazing, and how blessed I was to be in his home and meet with this wonderful man of God.

Church family please be in prayer as I begin this new series of messages on the Book of Acts. I will give an overview and study the first 2 verses of chapter 1. I had planned on studying with you the first 3 verses but when I hit page 6 single-spaced on he manuscript I knew it was time to wrap it up. You are a radiant group of believers and we are honored to serve here. We love you and do appreciate your prayers and words of encouragement.

The Hand of God

On Thursday Terry Hurt and I traveled to St. Louis MO to see Benny Rambo and his family. We were able to witness a miracle as Benny spoke with us only hours after having received a new heart in a successful heart transplant surgery. Amazing indeed. One of the medical personnel at the hospital said it was the luck of the draw to which Benny's mom, Joan Rambo, said no it was the hand of God! I love that response. I have attached some pictures of our visit to the hospital.

God really blessed our day yesterday here at FBL. The deacon ordination service was really special and I congratulate the new deacons as they join us in ministry.

God has given us a great start to the New YeDSC02568.JPGar. I appreciate all your prayers for our church and our family. Both Bryant and Leighton got the part of Aladdin in their school rendition of the popular movie. We are very proud of them!

Good days . . . House almost ready!

I hope you are off to a good start at the beginning of the new year. God continues to bless our family, our church family at FBC Lavaca, and the DFEA. We are going full blast here at church and it is exciting. God continues to bless and draw people to Himself and we are grateful. Our desire is to be a radiant church that shines brightly for Jesus Christ by being intentionally upward in worship, inward in discipleship, and outward in evangelism and missions. We had a good time Sunday night as the staff did a great job in their "interviews." Stuart Smithson, our children's pastor, told me today how he appreciated being able to share his prayer request about Emily's eyesight. They went to the doctor this week and got a very good report. Please keep praying for Emily and Caroline and their eyesight. I will try and post as many pictures as time allows. Hope you enjoy! Our house is coming along nicely and we may get to move in the end of the month, at least by the middle of next month. Justin Green is a great builder and has worked so diligently on our home and we really appreciate his time and expertise.

A Great 08!

I hope you are off to a good start to the New Year. We have been on the road a bit and had a nice visit with mine and Ashley's folks in AL. We are back in AR and hitting the ground running. In fact my wife has some things for me to do right now related to our new home. We should be in by mid February. I have some pictures I want to post and hopefully can get them on before I head out to Fort Smith today. God continues to bless us, FBCL, and DFEA and we are grateful. I am excited about preaching the state of the church address on Sunday January 6, 2008 here at FBL. We will also be doing things a little differently Sunday night as I interview the staff and ask them some questions about their ministries for 08. See you Sunday. God is good. Jesus is Lord. And He is coming again!

Danny
