Kids Camp and Super Summer

God blessed our kids and counselors with a wonderful kids camp in Windemere Camp in beautiful Missouri. I was blessed to be able go and hang out with them for a little while. Stu and Sarah and the others were just wonderful in their love and care for our kids.

Super Summer is going full blast. Zack and Drew and the gang are just blowing it out and I means the youth are having a good time. Please pray for Brother Tony as he preaches at 8:00 pm tonight July 31 and for me as I preach tomorrow on August 1 at super summer.

I will try to attach the pictures later of our home with the foundation and the safefy room. (See above blog entry for more info on this.) I will also try to post some picrutres from the kids camp and the super summer.

I love you FBCL.

Foundations and Safety Rooms

I hope this blog entry finds you doing well as you move through cyber space.  I have been remiss in not posting an entry but it has been so amazingly busy, but I love it.  Ashley and the kids and I are glad to be on the field at FBC Lavaca and we are getting acclimated to our new home and new surroundings.  We are so blessed.  It is a joy living next to Winston and Ruby Nichols, Mike Nichols dad and mom; they are a delightful family indeed.  Justin Green is building our home in Greenwood and it is coming along nicely.  Leighton and I went by the property today and the foundation is laid and you can see this structure protruding from te foundation and it is the safety room for tornadoes should they visit us.  This foundation and safety room provide a good sermon  illustration.  Foundations and safety rooms are extremely important in the physical realm but even more so in the spiritual realm.  Jesus spoke a parable about the importance of building our lives on the solid foundation of obeying His Word (see Matthew 7:24-27).  The key to building a solid foundation for life is mentioned in verses 24 and 26 and that is obeying Jesus.  Those who obey are blessed and secure and those who disobey or dismiss Jesus and His teaching are headed for destruction-- both here and for eternity.  (I will try and get a picture of our foundation and safety room and post it on the next blog.)

Brother Terry had his back surgery and now is back at home and recuperating.  Keep praying for him as he heals up completely.  It was neat seeing all the folks in the hospital room in Springdale; we love Brother T and what a blessing he is to FBCL.

Brother Tony Buchanan and Zack Schroeder are on the field and we are thrilled to have these men and their families serving at FBCL.  Tony is our executive pastor and Zack is our assistant student pastor.

FBCL get ready to go to the 2 services in the fall!!  We will make the announcement on Sunday as our plans are to go to two worship services beginning September 9.  We will also have our 6:00 pm worship service as well.

God continues to give me opportunities to share Christ with people and invite them to FBCL-- the Radiant Church.  I spoke to a college student today that Leighton has been playing tennis with and he assured me that he would be there on Sunday.  I was in the home of a family Wednesday night who have visited our church and they are looking for a church home.  Exciting days.

For those wh may be looking at the blog and asking about DFEA hang in there as I am having some problems with my web site.  I will be sending a newsletter soon giving our new contact information and also I will mention an exciting trip to Israel on June 16-26, 2008.  I also have 3 preaching opportunities this fall and will be posting information about these hopefully soon.

Take care and God bless you and keep being a radiant Christian shining the light of the Gospel with all you come in contact with.

Camp, moving, and great days of worship and fellowship

DSC02218.JPGDSC02216.JPGDSC02213.JPGJuly 10, 2007 Camp, moving, and great days of worship and fellowship

The Forshee clan is on the move. Oh my, has this been a busy last few weeks. Ashley and the kids went to Mexico on a mission trip and had a blast. We all went to camp last week with FBC Lavaca youth ministry and that was amazing. We had 10 of our teens accept Christ and we baptized 9 in the lake at camp then baptized 4 more people on Sunday morning at church. The camp pastor, Alex, and the band Potter’s Field were great. Sean Mills did a great job as well. Zack and Wesley Schroeder were able to come to camp and they fit in great. Zack is joining our staff at FBC Lavaca as assistant minister of students. Also, Josh Buchanan was able to go to camp and we were so glad he could come. Josh is Tony and Edie Buchanan’s son. Tony is our new executive pastor at FBCL and we are excited about having him on board.

God is richly blessing our Sundays at FBCL. The people of God are praising the Lord with songs of worship and joy; the Word of God is going forward and changing lives; people are being saved and getting baptized. Our desire is to be a Radiant Church in the River Valley in AR, and by God’s amazing grace we are seeing this happen. The church is radiant as she shines upward in worship and prayer, inward in discipleship and fellowship, and outward in evangelism, missions, and ministry.

We had a great time of fellowship on Sunday at the park as we celebrated our country’s birthday a week late due to the weather. I have posted some pictures of camp and also of our big day at the park. The pastor’s team came in second place in the softball tournament! Yeah, team 6! We drove back to TX and got in at 3:00 am Monday morning and we have been a packing! We will arrive in AR on Thursday evening then move into our temporary home July 13 (thank you Mike and Shay!!!) on Friday morning.

A witnessing moment—we had a guy come to the house today from Terminex to help with what I thought was a termite problem. It turned out not to be termites just some hungry ants! That is a blessing. I got a chance to witness to the guy and he was most receptive. I gave him a gospel tract and then he told me he had accepted Christ as his Savior. I encourage you when people come to your home, share Christ with them and invite them to your church. This is a great opportunity and you will be surprised at how many people will visit your home in a year.

Well I better get back to packing or whatever my wife needs me to do. Please be in prayer for us as we, the Buchanan’s, and the Schroeder’s move all with in a few days of each other. And also be praying as we gear up for the fall at FBCL. We will be going to a dual Sunday school and worship at 9:00 am and 10:30 am on September 10, 2007. We will be sharing more but please be in prayer for us. I love you FBCL and am honored to serve as your pastor.
