Papaw Dan looked for Christ to return any day!

Hello to all you senior adults and senior adult wanta be's ! As Sonda and I get ready for the new year I find myself asking the question; Is this the year that Jesus Christ will return for all believers as mentioned in 1ST Thessalonians ch 4:16-18?

As a young boy and up through my early 20's my papaw Dan would take every opportunity to tell not only me, but every grandchild about Jesus. I can remember him telling me that there is a day coming when Jesus would step out onto the clouds and call all His children (believers in Him) home to heaven. He told me of how the ones who had died would bust out of the grave and then those who are still alive would all be caught up or raptured to be with Christ forever. I did not make much sense of what he was saying at the time, but oh my, how his words ring in my ears today! He use to tell me of how Christ took him in, forgave his sins and changed his life forever. I often think about those talks he had with me and never knew the effect they would have on my life. I never saw him loose his temper or say a harsh word to anyone. He always had a smile on his face and a kind word for everyone. God uses different people to help shape and mold our lives to look more like Christ. Papaw Dan looked as much like Christ as anyone I have ever known and i had no clue as to how much God was using Papaw to help mold me until God started dealing with me about my salvation. It was then that all those talks and the way he lived his life started to make sense. I gave my heart and my life to Christ and thank Him everyday for His saving grace. I also thank Him for giving me a Papaw like Dan Bailey of Surgoinsville, TN who went to be with the Lord on Jan. 14th, 1992.

To our senior adult group I ask you to never give up on your family. You may think that no one listens, but God will use your words about Christ maybe years later when we are dead and gone. I can still remember the words that Papaw used to get the conversation started. "Son, Come out here on the porch, I want to tell you something".  Most of the time i knew what was coming, but I can remember those conversations just like it was yesterday. So never give up and always remember when you mention the name of Jesus, it changes things and brings light to any situation.

Is this the year that Christ returns? I have no idea, but lets live like it is and tell as many people as possible that Jesus Christ is the Light of the world and their darkness can be removed by placing their faith in Him for forgiveness of sins. (John ch 9)

MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND HAVE A GREAT NEW YEAR,

Kenny B.

THANK YOU FOR THE TESTIMONY ABOUT YOUR GRANDFATHER. THOSE OF US WHO HAVE GRANDCHILDREN AND GREAT GRANDCHILDREN SHOULD TAKE OUR RESPONSIBILITY VERY SERIOUS. THE WORDS THAT WE SAY TODAY MIGHT BE THE WORDS THAT SEND OUR LOVED ONES ON THE ROAD TO HEAVEN OR HELL.
