Wild Water Wednesdays

Wednesday nights this summer are Wild! We'll be meeting at a pool each week from 6:00 till 7:30 for a lot of fun swimming and an awesome time of learning some of the many things that God did with water in the Bible. Parents are welcome to attend.

We will meet at Dr. Wards house 7-2. See you there!

ORGANIZED MASS CHAOS!!! and AWANA awards night

Wednesday May 14, We'll have our AWANA awards in Fort Sonshine and immediately following that we will move to the gym for the craziest game you have ever experienced... Organized Mass Chaos otherwise known as OMC. Parents are invited and encouraged to attend. Each child will receive an award for this AWANA year and there will be many special awards given to those who have reached certain points in their books. You will not want to miss this night. We'll see you then.

Hard Workin' Students

Live Wires is what most people call them. It's what we call the too. Our 5th and 6th grade students are learning how to love like Jesus did by giving, but we're not doing it all in the church. American Christianity looks out for US too much. We want to be a blessing to those who can bless us back. Ask our 5th and 6th graders what pure religion looks like and they will tell you. They know the answer. Widows and orphans. But really more than that. Pure religion is blessing those who have no means to bless you back. In other words... blessing someone just to be a blessing, with no expectation of reciprocation.

We pulled up with about 35 kids, 50 contractor bags, 14 rakes, and 2 power blowers and commenced a whoopin on some sticks, limbs, pine needles, and leaves.

We got a little over half way done in the 90 minutes we were there and we'll go back and finish next week.

The next time you have the chance to bless someone, do it. Don't just be a hearer of the Word, Just Do It!

Upward End of the Year Awards Ceremony

This Monday, March 10th will be our end of the year awards party in the H2O Student center. We're going to do it a little bit different this year though so listen up.

6:00-7:00 3rd-6th grade in the worship area for your End of the year presentations and program.

K-2nd grade in the game area for pizza and games.

7:00-8:00 Switch from 6-7:00

Cheerleaders will be with the K-2nd grade group.

We'll have pizza and drinks for everybody and we'll celebrate a great year. Jesus is AWESOME!!!

I'm dreaming of a White Easter.... So much for global warming. You guys find some hot chocolate and a good movie and enjoy the night at home. We'll see you Saturday for our last game.

Saturday was our second week of Upward Basketball, and man oh man, have we had some fun the last two weeks. We've got several more kids playing this year, and there are over 50 teams in the league with us and FBC Greenwood. Games have been played hard in the older leagues, and the younger bunch improved by leaps and bounds from last week to this week. All of our coaches and parents have been doing an outstanding job of teaching and encouraging the kids. Keep up the good work everyone. Here are a couple of pictures of the first week:

Let it Snow!!! Upward update for 1-31

Well, it is snowing outside at a pretty good pace. I know you guys are wondering what we're going to do about practice tonight. It's off. We're getting some accumulation already and the temp will continue to drop after dark so we'll just play it safe tonight. Fix some hot cocoa and enjoy the white stuff.

Also, remember that 5th & 6th grade boys and 2 of the 3rd & 4th grade boys teams that did not have practice on Tuesday night will have their practices tomorrow night.

Well, the floor is finished and the paint needs a few days to cure so no practice on Monday except for the cheerleaders. They will be in Fort Sonshine. We'll also have a coaches and referees meeting on Monday night. Our first practice night of the week will be on thursday. Not everyone will practice on Thursday. If you don't you will practice next week on Monday or Tuesday. I will post the practice schedule soon. By the way... the new floor looks awesome.

Upward Update

Well, the gym floor is almost finished. It is looking great and I can't wait to get everybody on it for some basketball. We will get started next week as planned unless something unexpected comes up. Cheerleaders will practice in Fort Sonshine on Monday night at 6:30. We've still got a couple of practice schedule kinks to work out for basketball but they will be finished tomorrow and I'll post practice schedule and email everyone. It looks to be a great year.
