Dental Hygiene
I went to get my teeth cleaned this week...twice. Emily cleaned them for me. She is in the Dental Hygiene program at the University of Arkansas Ft. Smith. She has a quota of patients she has to see during the semester. Part of her grade depends on it. She has spent a lot of time contatcing people to be a patient for her clinic. When she has a cancelation she calls in the backups. I was her backup as she had a cancelation. I was very impressed with her performance and the facility.
One of the other students shot this pic for us as she finished up the appointment. Doesn't she look all professional and everything!
She will still be lining up patients. If you have not had consistent cleanings, give her a call. She can get you hooked up. You will get professional dental care and she will fulfill class requirements. It is a win win. If you have any questions about it, give her a call and she can explain all the details.
Water, Water Everywhere
Wow, this latest round of torrential downpours have left us quite soggy. I have not seen this in the 11 years we have been in Lavaca. I talked to a local man who has lived in Lavaca for 50+ years and he said he can't remember ever seeing rain like Tuesday's rain. I haven't seen an official rainfall amount here but I have heard 5-7 inches of rain depending on where you are in the River Valley. Along with all the rain we also had 65 mph winds.
The wind blew down 2 of our Bradford Pear trees. The wind also blew rain through our bedroom window and down onto our wood floor. The new wood floor that Debbie and I spent 2 days putting down about 6 weeks ago. Did I mention it was new and that we put it down? It could have been worse. I hope it will dry out and not come a part when it does. I was told our insurance did not cover it so it has to be ok!
I slipped past the barricades on Hwy. 255 yesterday to take a closer look at the flooding in the area. I didn't have to drive far before I could not drive any further. As soon as I pulled up to stop I was greeted by this little fellow. This is what he looked like before I ran over him in my truck. I was going to put the after picture up but it wasn't pretty!
The picture looks like it is the edge of a very large lake but you can see I am standing on Hwy. 255 and it disappears under water. Truely amazing! Here is another picture from the Lavaca side of 255.
Today is the first day of spring. It is sunny and forcast to be much warmer. Maybe we have seen the worst of it as the waters begin to retreat. There are people in about a 5 state area that have had major loss due to the rising waters in their area. Very sad.
