Tony Buchanan's Bio
Lead Pastor, First Baptist Lavaca

I grew up in Ringgold, Georgia. It was there that I began my relationship with Jesus Christ. At the age of sixteen, I recognized that I was a sinner in need of salvation. On the steps of the First Baptist Church, I asked the Lord to forgive my sins and be my Savior. I have served Him since that day. After graduating from Ringgold High School, I attended college on a basketball scholarship, but quit school after my sophomore year and joined the United States Air Force. Most of my Air Force career was spent serving in the Air Force Chaplain Service. My second duty assingment was Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi. It was there that I met the love of my life, Edie, and we were married in March 1987. We loved Air Force life and believed God was using us where we were, but God's call on my life was so strong that I could no longer ignore Him. On October 31, 1996 I surrendered my life to preach the gospel. I finished college and started attending seminary while on active duty, but with 15 years of active service, God called us to step out in faith, leave the Air Force and into the pastorate. I served as Senior Pastor of two churches: Carroll Memorial Baptist Church in Fayetteville, North Carolina, and East Rogersville Baptist Church in Rogersville, Tennessee. In July 2007, we arrived here at FBC Lavaca and are very excited to be here.

The heartbeat of my ministry is Biblical preaching, personal evangelism, disciple-making, and worldwide missions.
