The Women's Ministries of First Baptist Lavaca

The women's ministry of FBC Lavaca is in an exciting phase! We are getting back to the basics to look at what women's ministry is supposed to be based on God's Word.  We have chosen Titus 2:3-5 as our theme verses, which says:  

"the older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things--that they admonish young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed." 

Here at FBL we feel strongly that God uses His Word, and the wisdom of other spiritually mature women, to help strengthen, encourage, and sustain us as women.  

I have only been the Director of Women's programs here at FBL for a few months, but I just know God is about to do something big here through our women.  One of my favorite quotes is from William Carey, pioneer missionary to India.  He said, "Expect great things from God.  Attempt great things for God." That is exactly what we are doing through this ministry. We want to reach, equip, and mobilize women to reach other women with the life changing Gospel of Jesus Christ.  If what I've described sounds like a ministry you would like to be a part of, come join us! I must warn you, however.  We're not doing women's ministry as usual.  You will be challenged, stretched, and blessed beyond your wildest dreams when you step out in faith and follow Him.

Bible Study Opportunities...Fall 2009

1.  Knowing God by Name, by Mary Kassian

**This 7 week study looks in depth at 35 names of God.  You will find new insight into the character, love, and power of God by studying what these names of God mean.  

This class will meet at 4:30 on Sunday afternoons beginning September 13th in the Old Steffey's building.

2.  David, by Beth Moore

**This study looks at the life of David, the man after God's own heart.  This is a six week study beginning Tuesday, September 15th at 9:30 a.m. in the old Steffey's Building.

Tailor Made:  Women's Conference

When: Saturday, October 3rd; 9:00-12:00

What:  Come be blessed by speaker Ashley Smith in the first session.  Ashley is a wife, mother, author, and adjunct professor at Dallas Baptist University.  Our second speaker is Carrie McDonnall, former IMB missionary who survived a terrorist attack while serving in Iraq.  Carrie's story of love, faith and loss is something you don't want to miss! We will also be led in Worship by Angela Carl, recording artist and vocalist.

What: a ministry to girls K-6th grade
