Open my eyes

Open my eyes

October 16, 2020

“Well, I wonder what God has in store for us now.” This was Lora & I’s response after our plans changed…again! It seemed like every time we planned something it would change. However, after Unit 4 Day 4 of Experiencing God, we began to realize that God had a different plan and realized He must be at work. We just needed spiritual eyes to see it.

2 Kings 6:17  Then Elisha prayed and said, “O LORD, please open his eyes that he may see.” So the LORD opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

It’s easy to go through a day and not realize how the Lord was working and moving in our lives. We’ve become so accustomed to distraction and the busyness of life that we rarely wonder if God is at work around us at all. The truth is God is always at work around us.

The study Experiencing God has opened up my eyes to see that God is at work, even in the little things. If we truly believe God is sovereign over all things, then why would we not think that He cares about the little details of our lives. When plans change (which they do all the time with our family) we need to stop and see what God is doing and realize they’ve changed for a reason. When people cross my path that typically don’t, I try to stop and realize that God has put them in my path for a reason.

I don’t do this all the time and I definitely don’t have it down, but the more I seek to find where God is at work in the little things in my life, the more I am able to rejoice and be a part of where He’s at work. May a day never go by that we down acknowledge God’s presence and movement in our lives and give Him praise for it.

When was the last time you saw God at work in a little thing?
How can your changed plans show you where God is at work?

Heavenly Father, thank you for always being at work.  Help me to recognize what you are doing so I can align myself with your purpose.  I rejoice that you, the God of the universe, love me and allow me to be a part of accomplishing your plan.  Help me to live a life of praise.  -Amen.
