God Cares

God Cares

September 30, 2020

When I was younger we spent many hours in our pool.  We had so many games that we would play to pass the time and one that was a constant favorite was “Marco Polo”.  In this game the person who is “It” would keep their eyes closed while wondering around the pool saying “Marco”.  The people trying not to be tagged would have to reply “Polo” which would allow whoever was “It” to hear them and attempt to tag them while everyone was moving around.  This is the opposite of how we are called to pray with God.  When we call out, He responds and then doesn’t try to get away from us.

1 John 5: 14 And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.

John reminds us here that we have a living God who cares for His people. Furthermore, we can have confidence in knowing He listens to our prayers.  John wanted to remind us that we should be in constant communication with our heavenly Father.  The only stipulation that is placed here on our prayers is that they must align with the will of God.

Are you living out God’s will for your life today?  Is your life a reflection of how we are called to live throughout scripture?  The way we can answer these questions is to submit our lives before the Father through prayer.  Prayer is a way for us to align our heart with God’s.  It shows us where we are lacking and helps us to find the course corrections that need to take place.  Many times I have asked things of God that were not in His will for my life and so they were not given to me.  Every time I have gone to the Father with a prayer to keep me directly in His will for my life I know He hears me and show me how to do so.

Father, I want to live my life according to your will.  I thank you that when I call on you I am heard.  Thank you for loving me enough to hear me and giving me the opportunity to realign my life.  Show me new ways to live for you today.  -In Jesus name - Amen.
