Sunday School resumes Feb.7, 2021

Update (January 12, 2021)

Due to an increase in Covid throughout our community and the river valley, First Lavaca is postponing the relaunch of Sunday School Small Groups until February 7th. Midweek activities are still scheduled at this time. For more details, listen to this short video as Pastor Steven goes into more detail.

Update (December 30, 2:20)

Due to a significant rise in Covid cases in our area, we are suspending Sunday school classes and kid's church until January 17th. Nursery care is available during the Main Worship gathering. We hope to see you in person or as a part of our growing online community this Sunday at 10:30.

 (March 18, 1:30pm)

Hello First Lavaca,
This morning your church staff prayed for you during our staff meeting. There are many safety protocols that we have considered; however, at this time, we feel it is the wisest decision for us to do church online only this Sunday. You can watch via Facebook, Youtube, or on our website this is not the ideal setting for our church to assemble, it is the best way to take care of all of our people, especially the most vulnerable. Every week we will evaluate if we can meet again. We feel that we should take a week-to-week approach as we are eager to meet together as a whole.

Also, I hope that you will consider engaging three other people that you are already connected to over the phone. In your call, consider sharing a favorite scripture and then take a moment and pray with one another. Right now, we have the ability and the need to encourage one another with the love of God. Please take time daily to serve the Lord by checking on one another.
Remember, we have a prayer line that's available day or night at 479-275-6117. Also, your church staff is still working for you and is available at 479-674-2293.

Brandon and Tyler are currently working to develop family devotional tools that will we will post for the benefit of our community. They'll also be providing a video on some things to consider while you are at home.

We are prayerful that this will all pass quickly, but this is our updated schedule:
-Currently, this Wednesday night, March 18, and next Wednesday night, March 25 is canceled.
-Sunday School and Small Groups are Canceled (we are looking at an online Sunday School option)
-We will offer a streaming-only service for this Sunday, March 22 at 10:30am.

Our online service will be very similar to what you are accustomed to being a part of in person. We want to keep things as normal as possible. Consider hosting a watch party and inviting other people to tune in online as well. We appreciate your prayers, and we are praying for you.   I love you 1L and its an honor to serve you.

Keep Moving Forward,
Pastor Steven

Prior update (March 14, 1:00pm)

We want to be sensitive toward the heightened concern for the Coronavirus (Covid-19), and we want you to know how First Lavaca is responding at this time.
We are remaining vigilant in carefully monitoring this situation. As you know, this is a very fluid situation that is changing quickly. As we receive information, we will let you know and then adapt to serve you and our community. Please return to

platform for the most up-to-date information on commonly asked questions. We are monitoring national, state, and local recommendations to best serve you.

Yes, we are meeting, but we are adapting. The plan as of right now is to hold our Sunday Morning Worship Gathering. However, our leadership team is in agreement that it is prudent for our church to suspend all small group gatherings, including Sunday School for this Sunday. Furthermore, we will not offer any childcare or Kids Church for this Sunday, March 15. If our service plans change, we will update Facebook and this page immediately.

Yes. At this time, our regular office hours are still active (we are not open on Fridays).

No. If you are recovering from an illness, are battling any sickness, or are running a fever, please stay home. We do want to encourage you to stay involved by participating in our online venue, which can be accessed on Facebook or Youtube.

We must practice excessive cleanliness during this time. Just as we want to protect you from illness, we need your aid in protecting others, especially the most susceptible, from sickness. Here are a few ideas as it pertains to Coronavirus:

  • If you believe that you might be infected, please stay home for a 14-day quarantine. Furthermore, if you have been to a high-alert area, please observe a 14-day quarantine before attending any event on 1L's campus.
  • Wash your hands with soap and hot water for at least 20 seconds every hour.
  • Use hand sanitizer frequently, especially when soap and water aren't available.
  • Refrain from touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid contact with people who are sick.
  • If you are feeling sick, staying home.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze.
  • Disinfect objects and surfaces regularly.
  • If you or someone you know tests positive for Covid-19, please let us know so we may assist them with prayer and any practical need that they may have. This information will also be helpful to us in taking the necessary precautions here at 1L.

We have added additional cleaning measures in areas that house children and seniors.
We have wiped down areas that are frequently touched (e.g., doors, light switches, countertops, etc.)
We have hand sanitizers in common areas throughout the building.
While we have thoroughly cleaned the children's area, we have canceled all children's activities and nursery services.

If you need emergency assistance, would like prayer, have a question, or need to provide an update, please call our office at 479-674-2293 during regular office hours or 479-275-6117 after the office is closed.
