1L UPDATE ON CORONAVIRUS

Last update: May 6th, 3:15pm

We want to be sensitive toward the heightened concern for the Coronavirus (Covid-19), and we want you to know how First Lavaca is responding at this time.
We are remaining vigilant in carefully monitoring this situation. As you know, this is a very fluid situation that is changing quickly. As we receive information, we will let you know and then adapt to serve you and our community. Please return to this platform for the most up-to-date information on commonly asked questions. We are monitoring national, state, and local recommendations to best serve you.

IS 1L STILL MEETING THIS SUNDAY?
Yes, we are meeting, but we are adapting. The plan as of right now is to hold our Sunday Morning Worship Gathering. However, our leadership team is in agreement that it is prudent for our church to suspend all small group gatherings, including Sunday School for this Sunday. Furthermore, we will not offer any childcare or Kids Church for this Sunday, March 15. If our service plans change, we will update Facebook and this page immediately.

WILL THE OFFICES REMAIN OPEN ON WEEKDAYS?
Yes. At this time, our regular office hours are still active (we are not open on Fridays).

SHOULD PEOPLE COME TO 1L IF THEY FEEL SICK?
No. If you are recovering from an illness, are battling any sickness, or are running a fever, please stay home. We do want to encourage you to stay involved by participating in our online venue, which can be accessed on Facebook or Youtube.

WHAT PRECAUTIONS CAN PEOPLE TAKE WHEN COMING TO CHURCH?
We must practice excessive cleanliness during this time. Just as we want to protect you from illness, we need your aid in protecting others, especially the most susceptible, from sickness. Here are a few ideas as it pertains to Coronavirus:
If you believe that you might be infected, please stay home for a 14-day quarantine. Furthermore, if you have been to a high-alert area, please observe a 14-day quarantine before attending any event on 1L's campus.
Wash your hands with soap and hot water for at least 20 seconds every hour.
Use hand sanitizer frequently, especially when soap and water aren't available.
Refrain from touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.
Avoid contact with people who are sick.
If you are feeling sick, staying home.
Cover your cough or sneeze.
Disinfect objects and surfaces regularly.
If you or someone you know tests positive for Covid-19, please let us know so we may assist them with prayer and any practical need that they may have. This information will also be helpful to us in taking the necessary precautions here at 1L.

WHAT PRECAUTIONS HAS 1L TAKEN ON CAMPUS?
We have added additional cleaning measures in areas that house children and seniors.
We have wiped down areas that are frequently touched (e.g., doors, light switches, countertops, etc.)
We have hand sanitizers in common areas throughout the building.
While we have thoroughly cleaned the children's area, we have canceled all children's activities and nursery services.

WE ARE HERE TO HELP.
